Job Summary:

Responsible for the build and support of the Enterprise Virtual Server and Storage Infrastructure including backup and recovery, performance tuning, upgrades/patches, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The Associate Storage and Virtualization Administrator implements server specifications including data storage requirements, runs reporting functions for server and storage performance and utilization, performs upgrades to support servers, implements and supports storage replication, and works with third party vendors to manage upgrades, system updates and patches. Completes assigned tasks of moderate complexity related to projects and technical requests, and provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 support in all areas of the departmental service portfolio. The Associate Storage and Virtualization Administrator is expected to function with a low degree of autonomy and is directed by the department manager.

Job Functions and Duties:

Completes assigned tasks of moderate complexity related to projects and technical requests, and provides Tier 2 and Tier 3 support in all areas of the departmental service portfolio. The Associate Storage and Virtualization Administrator is expected to function with a low degree of autonomy and is directed by the department manager.

Communicates in a professional, positive and timely manner in person, on the phone, and via electronic means. Participates in the evaluation and estimation of work requests and projects.

Adheres to all Northern Light Health and departmental policies and procedures. Creates, follows, maintains and updates as necessary documentation and checklists to ensure efficiency and consistency. Uses advanced troubleshooting methodologies that provide efficient, effective resolution and minimize impact to the customer. Maintains detailed and accurate records in workload management, asset management and administrative applications. Adheres to deadlines.

Actively maintains education and cross-training on all departmental areas of expertise. Maintains required certifications and attends training when available and appropriate.

Assists management in identifying opportunities for process improvement within the department.

Works conscientiously to minimize cost and time requirements in all areas of departmental responsibility.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma and 6 years relevant experience in a computer technology, or related technical field is required.

• A+, Server+, VMware VCP5-DCV certification preferred.

• Ability to obtain A+ and Server+ certifications within 3 months of hire is required.

• Associate's Degree and 8 years relevant experience in a computer technology, or related technical field is preferred.

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Intel server based hardware, and associated troubleshooting techniques.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a professional business manner and ability to interact with people of differing professional levels.

· Experience in the installation, maintenance, and Domain Administration of highly-available IT services on the two most recent versions of Microsoft Windows Server, to include application and database support.

· Experience with implementing storage to support business continuity and disaster recovery strategies.

· Experienced with the latest major version of VMware vSphere, including vCenter and Update Manager.

· Proficient with operational storage management, including provisioning and expanding storage.

· In-depth knowledge and experience supporting Microsoft Windows on x86 servers, and associated troubleshooting techniques.

· Experience with High Availability Technologies in a large production environment.

· Experience in implementing and integrating new system architecture into an existing environment.

· Ability to interpret architecture and design configurations from vendors or other teams to enable clear implementation standards and guidelines.

· Ability to identify standard monitoring requirements and scripting or applying additional setting requirements.

· Experience using tools for monitoring performance and troubleshooting problems and outages

Reports to the Manager of Data Center Operations and is expected to function with a low degree of autonomy.

Typical Contacts (Internal/External)

All levels of customers at Northern Light Health including peers, leadership, clinical and administrative staff.

Physical Requirements

• Works in a normal office environment, requiring the ability to frequently respond to unpredictable situations.

• Works in wiring closets and utility spaces that may be warmer and/or have a higher ambient noise level than other areas, but not at such a level as to require protective clothing or equipment.

• Must be able to work and think independently.

• Occasional long and irregular hours

• Must be willing to travel by air and ground.

• Tolerance for frequent interruptions.

• Must be able to speak and communicate clearly and effectively.

• Must be able to hear speech.

• Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work priorities.

• Must be able to travel to various Northern Light Health sites.

• Participate in periodic on-call rotation.

• This position may be eligible for situational offsite work.
