SUMMARY: Lead an innovative team of educators supporting students with special needs. To meet the needs of students with complex learning and developmental needs, Lewiston Schools has established a multidisciplinary intensive education program designed to support students with individualized programming.

This role is designed to boost instructional practices, and maintain the programmatic structures including TCIS for all Day Treatment classrooms. Leads will help to support a flexible class environment favorable to learning and personal independence; to establish meaningful social interaction with peers; to motivate students to strengthen social, executive functioning, de-escalation, and foundational learning skills needed for success in their education. This role offers many opportunities for team collaboration and family outreach in order to best help students generalize their learning across settings. This role is the lead for day to day operations of the school based day treatment program.

Salary Range: $ 70,000 - 95,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assesses and evaluates the accomplishments of students’ academic and social growth using standardized and curriculum-based measures, paired with on-going data collection and analysis.
  • Assists with the development of lesson plans and instructional material, and supports implementation strategies so students can access curriculum.
  • Communicates regularly with parents in monthly student meetings as well as newsletters, notes, phone calls, etc.
  • Creates a learning environment that encourages student independence using evidenced based practice and data-based decision making.
  • Leads a team of Teachers, Ed. Techs/BHPs:
    • Providing coaching and modeling around classroom and individualized programming.
    • Coordinating schedules within and across days.
  • Works with a multidisciplinary team to collaboratively design individualized supports.
  • Monitors compliance with assessment, progress monitoring and IEP reporting standards.
  • Serves as a liaison between programming and building administration.
  • Attains and maintains train the trainer level TCIS certification and conducts training.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

COURSE OF YEAR & SCHEDULE:

This is a full time role working a program-specific calendar aligned to Lewiston Public School’s academic year and summer programming/training with expected 230 work days.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises classroom and students and volunteers with assistance, advice and support from administration.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree. Current Teaching Certificate preferred. If current certification is not held, a plan for obtaining one may be required.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
