Accounting Specialist

Direct Hire Gorham, Maine

Seeking an Accounting Specialist to maintain the credit union’s financial accounting and reporting; ensuring they are accurate and in compliance with GAAP, NCUA, and accounting practices.

Essential Functions:

• Analyze and reconcile all general ledger accounts on a daily basis
• Establish and process prepaid and fixed asset items
• Reconcile third party processes (ATM, Visa Card, Shared Branching, Bill Payment, CUSO Mortgage, FHLB etc.)
• Prepare, pay, and file credit union accounts payables
• Record and balance investment accounts
• Prepare reports utilizing Brick Inc. ALM Software
• Prepare accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting
• Prepare unclaimed property remittance to the State of Maine, Vendor 1099’s, wire transfers, etc.
• Assist in other areas as directed

• Assist management in accounting-related activities and budget preparation
• Reconcile and prepare all aspects of the position in an accurate and timely manner

• Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision
• Must be organized and able to manage multiple tasks

Experience and Qualifications:

• A two-year college degree, completion of specialized certification, or completion of extensive in-house training
• Two plus years of similar or related work experience
• Knowledge of GAAP and credit union accounting procedures and reporting
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
