Position Status: Full-Time  

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Location: Portland, Maine (hybrid work environment) 

 

Position Summary 

As People Operations manager at HighByte, you will be responsible for employee recruitment and retention. This work is essential to meeting our company’s growth goals and building a healthy, sustainable culture for our team. Your day-to-day work will include leading the recruitment flywheel by proactively recruiting new candidates, optimizing the applicant tracking system (ATS), coordinating interviews, managing internal and external communication, onboarding new hires, and engaging employees to refer future candidates. You will also be responsible for total compensation benchmarking and analysis to ensure equitable, competitive pay for all.  

Furthermore, you will lead and work closely with the leadership team on important diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at HighByte and create a strategic recruitment and retention plan to support the company’s three-year roadmap.  

Essential Functions 

  • Manage the recruitment process from first resume to final offer, including strategy, job description, budget, compensation analysis, communications, and logistics.  
  • Coach employees on interviewing best practices and optimize the recruitment process to help eliminate unconscious bias.   
  • Maintain and expand third-party profiles across all recruitment channels.  
  • Prepare for new hire arrival and continuously improve employee onboarding procedures.  
  • Work with local and national organizations and universities to build a successful internship program and identify other areas for partnership.  
  • Work with service partners to ensure all employment policies are lawful, in compliance, and in tone with the HighByte culture.  
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors, including PEOs and recruitment agencies. 
  • Manage annual employee benefits program, including health insurance plan budget, selection, employee communication, and enrollment.  
  • Research, implement, and manage the employee retirement plan.  
  • Digitalize and improve the company’s quarterly performance management procedures. 
  • Build, send, and share results of internal pulse surveys.  
  • Participate in planning for in-person, remote, and hybrid employees to create a productive, inclusive environment for all.  
  • Coordinate company events.  
  • Prepare and present annual recruitment and retention plan, including DEI strategy and reporting.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree  
  • 5+ years of professional experience in recruitment and employee relations 
  • Experience in startup environments preferred
